ZSE declines as curtains comes down on August…
ZSE declined in the month-ending session as losses in CBZ and Hippo weighed on the market. The ZSE All Share Index eased 0.28% to 208.74pts while, the ZSE Top Ten Index retreated 0.49% to 205.89pts. Contrastingly, the ZSE Agriculture Index gained 0.62% to 179.07pts while, the Mid Cap Index rose 0.58% to end at 238.92pts. Star Africa dropped 11.11% to end pegged at $0.0400 while, CBZ trailed on a 9.71% decline to $8.0000. Hippo slipped 0.30% to $5.8000 as Meikles trimmed 0.01% to $3.4995. On the upside was Turnall that charged 15.77% to close at $0.0702 with retailer OKZIM surging 14.48% to $0.2328. Zimre Holdings notched up 3.73% to $0.2500 as Willdale edged up 3.33% to $0.0372. Cigarette manufacturer BAT added 2.55% to $94.0000 as it capped the top five risers of the day.
Nine counters gained in the session while, four faltered in the session to see the market close with a negative breadth of five. Volumes traded succumbed 44.43% to 1.62m shares while, turnover shed 2.14% to $7.47m. Volume drivers of the day were Econet and FBC that claimed 52.26% and 13.29% apiece. Value outturn was anchored by Econet (51.20%), FBC (22.48%) and Delta (17.78%). A total of 3,606 units worth $4,103.15 exchanged hands in the two REITs. The Datvest ETF was stable at $0.0300 on 21,408 units.
