MARKET COMMENT 05.08. 2026

Market slips into the red…
The ZSE market slipped into the red in midweek session as the All-Share Index declined 0.13% to end at 480.31pts while, the Blue Chip Index rose a marginal 0.16% to 488.81pts. The ZSE Agriculture Index and the Mid Cap Index retreated a similar 1.44% to end at 338.76pts and 473.62pts apiece. Milk processor Dairibord plunged a further 13.09% to close the day at $4.0363, trailed by SeedCo International that succumbed 10.86% to $4.7600. Zimre Holdings plummeted 10.11% to end the day at $0.8000 while, Hippo Valley trimmed 2.27% to $10.7500. Meikles capped the top five fallers of the day on a 0.59% loss to $2.7338. Partially mitigating today’s losses was cable manufacturer CAFCA that edged up 15.00% to $21.8500. Trailing was tea company Tanganda that jumped 9.43% to $4.5000 as Willdale put on 4.04% to $0.0510. Star Africa grew 0.57% to $0.0382 while, beverages concern Delta added 0.15% to settle at $32.3669.
Activity aggregates were subdued in the session as volumes dipped 20.97% to 4.91m shares while, value outturn tumbled 80.42% to $2.79m. Volume drivers of the day were Willdale (55.85%), Star Africa (20.71%) and TNCI (20.37%). Delta and Hippo claimed a combined 80.11% of the value aggregate. The Morgan and Co MIZ was unchanged at $0.1300 on 100 units. The Tigere REIT charged 7% and closed pegged at $1.1369.
